Ezmerelda had come to Barovia looking for her teacher Rudolph Van Richten, but she was too late. Rudolph had died at the hands of Strahd helping Ireena, Sprocket, and Crethan escape. To make matters worse. Those heroes also destroyed her wagon. Taking the high road she agreed to join them at the Abbey. Once they had made it into the catacombs she promptly took the thigh bone of Saint Markovia, which had been fashioned into a mace, and ran off into the night, stealing Van Richten's wagon back from Sprocket and Creathan. We join Ezmerelda on that very wagon headed south away from the Abbey on this episode of The Adventures of Ezmerelda.
